ABOUT Austin-East Magnet High School at 2800 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN, was founded in 1968 with the merger of Knoxville East and Austin High Schools. In 1997, Austin-East was designated as Knox County’s only Performing Arts Magnet High School, offering continuous quality dance, musical, and theater programs for all residents of Knox County.
In 2008, Austin-East adopted the “school-within-a-school” model of organization with the development of Small Learning Communities. Austin-East is the home to three small learning communities:
FOCUS, a small school for ninth-graders;
Discovery, the SLC for students in grades 10-12 who pursue courses in career and technical fields, and
IMPACT, the Performing Arts Magnet Small Learning Community.

In 2010, Austin-East became a "TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) School, offering performance-based incentive pay and on-going professional development for teachers at Austin-East, ensuring that students have high-quality, effective teachers in every classroom.

"Spring Showcase"

Austin-East Magnet High School will host the annual Spring Showcase featuring dance performances from Beaumont Elementary, Vine Middle, and Austin-East Magnet High School.
In addition, Austin-East will host a tour for all potential/interested magnet students and parents at 6 p.m. each night of the show.
Come see all that A-E has to offer with presentations from our other fine arts instructors and magnet students. A tour of our Performing Arts facility will be provided.
Finger foods will be served, and potential Performing Arts Magnet students will have free admission to the show!
